Have you ever considered just what your Union Suits do packed away in your closet when you aren't looking? Well, neither have I. But, apparently, they just don't lie there waiting for you to pull them on. They entertain each other! That's according to Warner Brothers' Merry Melodies who uncovered an unmentionables' phenomenon.
Suits of long underwear “bap their flaps” to the beat of the title song in the Warner Brothers' 1933 Cartoon, “We’re In The Money”
Animators Friz Freleng and Larry Martin get credit for this fun and funny popular feature back in the day, Starring - Flaps, Flaps2, and Flaps3
Your shoes and socks yuk it up too when you're not looking!
Too cool Chris. I remember seeing this cartoon as a very young child. In fact it is quite possibly what started my fascination with union suits. For as long as I can remember, I have been intrigued by the elegant simplicity of union suits. Without any sense of pretentiousness they serve their intended purpose better than most items of clothing and all the while standing the test of time. Thanks for reminding me of this long ago forgotten cartoon. Keep up these creative posts.
ReplyDeleteOhio Buckeye Mike: Yes, a great cartoon. You and everyone can see this one, "We're in the Money," in its entirety on YouTube. It's fun and recommended to share. My grandsons laughed and laughed. I'd argue that union suits "serve their intended purpose" BETTER than ALL other items of clothing. They sure beat tighty whities and boxers and HAVE passed the test of time. Thousands of us (millions-?) still wear union suits. A great, warm invention after more than 150 years.
