Hollywood Briefly
In
a scene from the 1980's film, The Long Riders, Vernon
Biggs (portrayed by actor: Chris Mullet) is stripped down to his union
suit by notorious highway men: Jesse and Frank James, Cole, Jim
and Bob Younger, and Ed and Clell Miller. Upon being held up, Vernon
lied about his civil war heroics. The gang decided to “strip him of
everything he has.” A fellow passenger and true civil war veteran is
offended by Vernon's deception and only too happy to help the boys remove the fabricator's clothes.
When the robbers leave, Vernon is left standing there in his long
underwear while his wife and other stagecoach patrons look on.
Apparently his boots weren't worth taking and his britches, pulled down and left around this ankles, were to difficult to remove over the footwear.

The
great thing about this movie is that the band of outlaws were played
by actors who in real life were brothers. The James were played by Stacy and
James Keach. The Younger boys were played by Keith, David, and Robert
Carradine. The Millers were played by Dennis and Randy Quaid. In
addition, Charley and Robert Ford were played by brothers,
Christopher and Nicholas Guest.
The
gang terrorized states in the midwest just after the Civil War
robbing banks, trains, and stagecoaches and, presumably, victims of their clothes. The movie was shown at the
1980 Cannes Film Festival. Ry Cooder won Best Music Award presented
by the prestigious Los Angeles Film Critics Association Awards for
his original music.

Actor
Chris Mullet also appeared in his underwear during most of the 1988 FilmDallas Pictures movie with the peculiar title of Patti Rocks. He played Billy
Regis in this blue comedy and spent most of the movie running around
Minnesota not in a union suit but, rather, boxer shorts.
And
that's the long and short of it.
