Cabin Fever, Part Two
Continued from The Westerner, starring Brian Keith as Dave Blassingame, "Line Camp," Season 1, Episode 10, 1960.
As Dave settled in to his new job, the boys and he stayed up late playing cards. Even though it was against the rules and strongly discouraged, a bottle or two of whiskey was brought out when the boss was away on business.
As the late night wore on and changed into early morning, tempers grew short. Prescott accused Dave of quitting the card game just as he was winning.
Both men in their union suits, Prescott stands and confronts Dave.
As they begin to argue over Dave's abrupt quitting the card game, the Boss arrives from his overnight trip, and discovers his cowboys have been drinking all night. He discovers Prescott provided the liquor and fires him on the spot.
Dave insists he is just a guilty and resigns himself. He grabs his pants and shirt and gets dressed to leave. Prescott is more reluctant to leave. He needs his job.
Dave buttons up his coat and turns to leave.
Prescott follows him to the door to bid him "so long," but has second thoughts.
Watch for Part Three of Cabin Fever, soon to be posted, for the surprising conclusion.
