Starsky and Hutch - Wooley Witchey Wilderness 

After posting the January 13, 2024 review of David Soul's acting and singing career, I received the following comment from Anonymous...January 16, 2024 at 10:37 PM...

"If I remember right there was an episode of Starsky and Hutch with Paul Glaser (Detective Dave Starsky) on ABC in his red union suit or was it the other guy?"

So, I asked Clay of Saranac, NY who collaborated with me in the subsequent January 24, 2024 Here Come the Brides posting, starring David Soul, to investigate. I didn't watch the ABC television (1975-1979) cop show, Starsky and Hutch,  but many of you did. Here's what Clay found out:

Chris, the episode Anonymous commented on was the 1978 "Satan's Witches," Season 3, Episode 17 in which the two cops decide to take some time off from their stressful job of chasing and catching hoodlums. They decide to spend some leisure time at a cabin in the woods (sound familiar, Chris*). 

Unfortunately for them, they happened to stay near a devil cult's outdoor activities. Hutch fortunately sleeps on a comfortable bed while Startsky is stuck in a sleeping bag on the couch. Like many of us, he wears a union suit to sleep in. When he wakes up the next morning, after a puzzling night, he looks for the missing Hutch. He steps outside in just his long red underwear to get some fresh morning air and see if he can locate his buddy:

Dang, the morning sun is bright...

Not spotting Hutch, Starsky turns around to return inside when he notices red paint drawn on the front door of the cabin.  

What thuh? Backing up, he trips, yells and falls on his butt:  

Hearing the commotion, Hutch comes running from the lake where he had been fishing. 

He wears a union suit too, not red but navy blue, under his clothes.**

He helps Starsky up from the dirt and leaves, wondering what his partner is doing lying on his back, outside in his underwear! 

Back on his feet, Starsky points to the red symbol that got him so bothered.... 

With no more thought of Starsky in his long underwear, Hutch strides over to take a good look. Who snuck over late last night and painted this? And what does it mean? The symbol raises the hairs on the back of their necks...

As they are discussing the mystery, ominous sounds emit from the woods.... 

Out from the trees stroll two gorgeous girls... 

The boys are instantly smitten. After admiring their approaching guests, Starsky suddenly realizes he standing there in nothing but a bright red union suit!  What to do?

Well, he runs back inside to grab something to cover himself... 

 Ahh, this he decides with make him more presentable to the ladies and so invites them inside!  What a dufus!!

Inside the boys and girls, uh.... well, you'll just have to catch the next part of "Satan's Witches" on Starsky & Hutch, now showing on the usual streaming services....

**Note: In a couple of scenes, Hutch wears an apron over his union suit  too:

*Clay refers to my fishing with friends while staying at a cabin in Canada this past spring which I sleepily posted about....I caught some well needed shut eye in bed, not on the couch but like Starsky, slept in my red union suit. But, thank goodness, didn't have near the unsettling time he and Hutch did. No witches where we were. at least that I knew of.

Greetings From Canada:

Union Suit Fans: I just returned to civilization for a day or two, to shower, do some laundry, and re-supply before returning to the great outdoors. Hope you've had a great couple of weeks. My pal, Arnie, and I sure have. We had a successful time so far, catching plenty of fish and enjoying the trees, flowing water and wild life. But it sure tires a fella out. The sun was up far in the sky when Arnie snapped this picture of me doing my best to wake up and get on with our next venture.

It sure took awhile, but with the smell of his strong coffee, I was up and going after my second cup, wide-eyed and ready to tackle another perfect day! We head out tomorrow but will be back in a couple of weeks for more Union Suit Fan stories and photos.

Back Home with a boat load of laundry!

Hey, Guys: I'm back from a relaxing, comfortable and successful camping & fishing trip in Canada. Watch for more entertaining (at least for union suit fans) posts in Union Suit Fan and Union Suit Fans in the Limelight, coming your way before you know it. But first, I got to get some laundry done. I'm out of socks and underwear and my wife ain't gonna touch 'em!
