 A Look Back

One of my favorite sit-coms of all time was Happy Days. I used a few of their scenes back on November 18, 2016 in my initial blog, Union Suit Fan.  This was posted a couple of years before I started this blog, Union Suit Fans in the Limelight.

From ABC's Season two, sixteenth episode: Crusin.'  Take a look and then find this great episode and others on Paramount+  and Pluto streaming services.

Richie Cunningham: Union Suit Fan
In a 1975 Happy Days second season episode, entitled "Cruisin", Richie (Ron Howard) and his friends bet their nemesis that they could come up with dates by midnight.

If not, they agreed to run around Mel's Diner in only their underwear. In due course, the boys lose the wager. Richie figured that they would lose their bet. He strips down to his union suit which he had worn for their cool late night run. The other boys strip to the boxer shorts they were wearing. And the fun began:

  1. I saw this episode a couple times in the past and so watched it again after seeing your re-post. Funny! Richie and the boys losing their bet and having to run around in public in their underwear reminds me so much of RC when he has lost those bets to Tom you've posted, and has to appear in public, running around in his red union suit! ...Max - Topeka, KS

    1. Max: I just saw this posting again today and your comment. I too love seeing those lost wagers of RC playing golf or skateboarding or going to the office in his long red underwear. But Ron Howard as Richie on Happy Days was the first to pay off a bet by running around that drive-in restaurant in his union suit. What a great way to pay off a bet. I don’t think I’m brave enough to run around in my union suit in public, but I admire these guys, men of their word!
