Six of the Seven Brothers Stripped of Their Winter Underwear in a Trade for Breakfast!
So many of you have emailed me over the years mentioning one of your favorite Union Suit movies, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. Well, it was and is one of my all time favorites as well. This 1954 MGM musical is a true classic. I don't remember the first time I saw this film, but it was well after it's debut in 1954. The music and dancing was incredible. And of course, the story line was a real hit. Here are a few scenes of the six of the brothers waking up one morning to the smell of fresh coffee only to find that their older brother's new wife had taken their filthy clothes to wash in the middle of the night. They had nothing left to wear but their union suits; most of them, not even their socks. But not for long....
Hearing knocking on the bedroom door, they soon discovered that if they wanted a home cooked breakfast, they would first have to give up their "winter underwear."
Thanks, Chris. This scene has to be one of the best, most favorite one ever. I especially love when Gideon struggles to remember how to unbutton his union suit so he can join his brother for breakfast... Rhode Island Randall
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely, a great and fun musical all away around and especially that winter union suit underwear sequence!!! Trevor, your buddy from Shamrock, TX
ReplyDeleteChris: Back in 2008, I was one of the brothers in our high school musical, Seven Brides. The first night of the performance, all went well until we all had given up our long red underwear. We came back on stage having wrapped blankets around our midsections for the next scene and musical number. When dancing around, Milley accidently stepped on Gideon's blanket which plumetted to the floor. Gideon stood there in just his boxer shorts for what seemed like an eternity. The audience went crazy, laughing hysterically! Finally, Milly reached down and handed the poor boy back his blanket and the show went on! Kyle, Olympia, WA
ReplyDeleteKyle: super to hear you were one of those union suited brothers in your high school musical. I bet the whole show was a great deal of fun for you, especially when your fellow actor lost his blanket, embarrassing for him in his boxers but a great laugh for the audience..that's classic...Chris
DeleteGlad you fellows enjoyed this movie, especially the winter underwear - union suit clip.. Chris
