From Bloomers to Combinations, Part 3
Those Magnificent Men in their Flying Machines Or How I Flew from London to Paris in 25 Hours and 11 Minutes.
After a harrowing twenty minute flight in which Orvil Newton discovers a broken strut on his flying craft, wing walks over to repair it, utilizes his belt to secure the strut while losing his britches (ending up in his long underwear), finally getting back to Patricia, he manages to take back the control.
Hundreds of pilots and spectators watch the antics from the ground, including Patricia's fiancé, Richard Mays, who is none to happy to see the American cowboy without his trousers and who has placed his fiancé in danger. And, adding insult to injury, the bottom half of his union suit is clearly visible for everyone to see. How undignified!
But, the question remains, can Orvil safely land the flying machine and save the day and his girl?
Yes! Whew, they make it to the ground! Orvil lands the craft and taxi's over to the hangers. There he climbs down off the contraption...
Richard, seething, is obligated to save Patricia's reputation. It just is not acceptable for a young woman to be up in a flying machine, especially with a man in his underwear! So, Richard hauls back and plunges his fist into Orvils' face! Take that you scoundrel!
